Guests have full private access to the entire apartment — all three bedrooms, all three bathrooms, kitchen, open-plan living and dining area, and the front balcony overlooking the marina creek and Grand Harbour. The apartment is on the first floor of the building.

We are available through the Airbnb messaging platform and typically respond within the hour. Check-in is fully self-managed. Full arrival instructions and access details will be sent through the platform 2 days before your arrival. We are not on-site but remain reachable throughout your stay for anything you need.

Birgu — known officially as Vittoriosa — is one of the most extraordinary places in Malta, and one of the most underrated in the entire Mediterranean. Sitting on a narrow fortified peninsula on the south side of the Grand Harbour, it was the original base of the Knights of St John before Valletta was built, and played a central role in the Great Siege of 1565. Today it remains almost entirely untouched by mass tourism — quiet limestone streets, baroque parish churches, colourful traditional balconies, and a waterfront that looks much as it did centuries ago.

The Strand & Marina Waterfront — on your doorstep

The apartment sits directly on the Strand — Birgu’s main waterfront promenade — overlooking the marina creek and the Grand Harbour beyond. The yacht marina is lined with superyachts and traditional dgħajsas. Waterfront restaurants and wine bars face the harbour directly, with Fort St Angelo dominating the headland to the east.

Birgu Old Town — 5 min walk

Walk back from the waterfront into the old town and you are in one of the most atmospheric urban environments in Malta — narrow alleys, baroque churches, the Inquisitor’s Palace, and the Malta Maritime Museum all within easy reach on foot.

Fort St Angelo — 5 min walk

One of the most significant fortifications in Maltese history, now a heritage site. The cliff path below the fort offers a spectacular swimming and sunbathing spot overlooking the Grand Harbour.

Valletta Ferry — 10 min walk

The Three Cities Ferry departs from the Birgu waterfront and crosses the Grand Harbour to Valletta’s Lascaris Wharf in around 15 minutes — the most enjoyable way to reach the capital by some distance.

Senglea & Cospicua — 10 min walk

The other two of the Three Cities are easily reachable on foot — Senglea’s Gardjola Gardens viewpoint is one of the most photographed spots in Malta.

Parking

Free street parking available in and around Birgu. No permit required — a significant advantage over Valletta or Sliema.

Valletta — 15 min by ferry / 20 min by car / 30 min by bus

The Three Cities Ferry from the Birgu waterfront is the most enjoyable route — 15 minutes across the Grand Harbour to Lascaris Wharf. By car via Paola. Bus routes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 213 to Valletta Bus Terminal.

Malta International Airport — approx. 15–20 min by car

One of the closest residential areas to the airport on the island. Taxi approximately €15–20.

Sliema & St Julian’s — approx. 20–25 min by car

Northwest toward Valletta then north along the coast road. Alternatively, ferry to Valletta then bus or Bolt north.

Mdina & Rabat — approx. 25 min by car

West via Paola and Qormi toward Mdina.

Marsaxlokk Fishing Village — approx. 15 min by car

Southeast toward Żejtun. Sunday morning fish market is not to be missed.

Golden Bay & Għajn Tuffieħa — approx. 40 min by car

Northwest via Valletta and Mosta toward the west coast beaches.

Gozo Ferry (Ċirkewwa) — approx. 50 min by car

Northwest via Valletta and St Paul’s Bay. 24-hour service with regular crossings.

Taxis & Bolt

Bolt is the most practical option for getting around Malta. Download before arriving.
