Senglea — known in Maltese as L-Isla — is one of Malta’s Three Cities, a trio of fortified peninsulas enclosing the Grand Harbour on its southern side, alongside Birgu (Vittoriosa) and Cospicua (Bormla). Step outside and you’re surrounded by narrow limestone streets, traditional townhouses, colourful balconies, and cozy wine bars — one of the most authentically Maltese urban neighbourhoods on the island, largely untouched by the commercial development found in Sliema or St Julian’s.
Within Senglea
The waterfront promenade and the Gardjola Gardens — with their panoramic views of Valletta and the Grand Harbour — are a short walk from the property. Authentic local cafés serving Maltese pastizzi and ftira are scattered throughout the neighbourhood.
Birgu (Vittoriosa) — 10 min walk
Just across the marina: the Inquisitor’s Palace, Fort St Angelo, the Malta Maritime Museum, and the atmospheric marina waterfront lined with restaurants and wine bars.
Cospicua (Bormla) — 5 min walk
Hidden chapels, historic fortifications, and charming backstreets less touched by tourism. The American University of Malta campus occupies beautifully restored dockyard buildings on the waterfront.
Valletta Ferry — 15 min walk
Take the local ferry across the Grand Harbour from Birgu waterfront — a short, scenic ride that arrives at Lascaris Wharf in around 15 minutes. One of the best ways to start any day in Malta.

Free street parking available throughout Senglea. No permit required.
Valletta — 15 min by ferry / 20 min by car / 30 min by bus
